Description
North Barn, located approximately 80 meters northwest of Wood Hall, is a 16th-century barn. It features weatherboard cladding over a timber frame set on a brick plinth, topped with a gabled corrugated iron roof. The barn has a five-bay layout with an off-center midstrey on the north side and plank double doors leading to the threshing bay. Inside, there are jowled wall posts with arch bracing supporting the tie beams and arcade plates, along with straight passing braces to the studding, much of which dates from the 19th century. The roof consists of a five-bay collar-truss design with clasped purlins, side struts, and rafters that join over a ridge purlin, featuring face-halved and bladed scarf joints.
