Description
Mudwall is a house dating from the late 14th century or early 15th century, originally built as a hall house with a crosswing. It features a timber frame and is plastered, topped with a red plain tile hipped roof that has gablets. The building has two storeys and a four-window range with 20th-century casements. There is also a 20th-century porch that has a hipped tile roof. Inside the original crosswing, the frame is exposed, showcasing two original windows and a crown post roof. The structure includes a cambered tie beam with arch braces. The main hall range was partly rebuilt in the 16th century, with a late 16th-century inserted first floor that retains some chamfer details. The east end of the building has suffered some fire damage.
