Description

TL 5416/5516 HATFIELD BROAD OAK CAGE END (east side)

6/55 Almshouse 09/01/75 (Formerly listed as Nos 1 to 3 GV II Cage End)

House, former almshouse. Early C17. Timber framed and plastered with gabled asbestos slate roof. Of 2 storeys with off-centre diagonal shafted ridge line stack and other small ridge line stack. Windows are a mixture of C20 2 light casements and horizontal sash windows all with small panes. Off-centre entrance door providing 'baffle entry' plan form of 3 bays. Well made frame with jowled posts and braces interrupting wall studs and stop chamfered bridging joists. Side purlin roof and halved and bladed scarf joints.
