Description
The Crown and Thistle Inn is a timber-framed and plastered building dating from around 1500, featuring a cross wing at the west end. An adjoining 19th-century flint and brick structure at the east end is now part of the inn. The original section has plastered panels on the front, with a decorative band of plasterwork between the storeys. The building has two storeys and a three-window range with casement windows that include glazing bars. The ground floor has three small bays topped with tiled roofs, and there are three gables at the rear. The roof is tiled and features an original chimney stack with two octagonal shafts. Inside, there is a plaster fire surround from around 1500. The 19th-century addition is made of flint with red brick quoins and dressings, stands two storeys tall, and has a higher storey height than the original inn. This section also has a three-window range with casement windows, a slate roof, and a brick dentilled eaves cornice.
