Description

Old House is a late 16th-century timber-framed and plastered building located on the south-west side of Carmel Street in Great Chesterford. It has a later addition at the south-east end, which was formerly a slaughterhouse, and a modern addition with a lean-to roof at the north-west end. The house is two storeys high, with the upper storey jettied across the entire front supported by small brackets. It features a three-window range with horizontal sliding sashes that include glazing bars. The roof is tiled with old tiles and has a central chimney stack.
