Description

Cypress Cottage is a cottage that dates from the 18th century or earlier. It is constructed of red brick and features a red plain tiled gambrel roof with a central red brick chimney stack. The building has one storey and attics, with two catslide dormers. On either side, there are two-light casement windows with glazing bars and segmental heads. The entrance is off-centre to the right and includes panelled doors with reveals, a moulded surround and frieze, and a flat canopy supported by brackets. The cottage was occupied by John Bond, a blacksmith, in 1796 and was used as a smithy until 1960.
