Description

Churchgate House is a house dating from the 18th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It is timber-framed and plastered, possibly with a brick facade. The house has red-tiled double-pitched roofs and external chimney stacks to both the left and right of each range. The front elevation has two bays, featuring vertically sliding sash windows with glazing bars and 20th-century three-light casements. A central 20th-century door is surrounded by fluted details, a patera to the frieze, and a flat canopy. The building is listed for its group value. A shoemaker, William Munson, resided here in 1796.
