Description

A terrace of tall cottages dating from the 19th century, located on the northwest side of High Street in Manningtree. The terrace follows the line of the street and curves to the north. The cottages are built of red brick, although numbers 63 and 65 have been plastered. The roof is covered with grey slate, punctuated by four red brick chimney stacks. The buildings are three storeys high, with a five-window front. Most windows are small-paned vertically sliding sashes, featuring moulded surrounds and gauged arches. A shop window is present on the ground floor of number 59. Numbers 59 and 61 have original two-panelled doors, while numbers 63 and 65 have 20th-century replacements. All doors have fluted surrounds, bases, corner patera, fluted friezes, and small flat canopies. A small slanting canopy is supported by bases and brackets to the left of number 59.
