Description

The Sailmaking Loft is a 19th-century boat builders workshop and sail loft located in Brightlingsea. It features a timber frame with weatherboarding and a brick plinth, topped by a grey slate roof that is gabled towards the road. The building stands two storeys tall and has double vertically boarded doors on the left side, with similar doors above on the first floor. There is a vertically boarded door on the right side as well. The first floor includes a large transomed four-light window, while the ground floor has a four-light window. A hoist pole is attached to the gable. The building is still in use as a boat building workshop.
