Description
The building is a mechanic's workshop and attached office located at The Boatyard on Crown Street in Stone. It dates from the mid-19th century and was originally a carpenter's workshop. The structure is made of brick and features a slate roof. It is a single-storey rectangular building with a loft and has very wide eaves that create pentices on the sides. The west end includes a segmental-headed entrance with paired plank doors and a segmental-headed window to the right, which has a 2-light casement. Above, there is a loading door that has a roof projection to shelter hoisting gear. To the north, there is a single-storey gabled office wing with varied 2-light casements. The rear elevation facing Crown Street is blind, which is an important aspect of the street's character.
