Description
The thatched cottages at the corner of Green Lane in Walton-on-the-Naze are a row of cottages, possibly now functioning as one dwelling, dating from the 18th or 19th century. They are constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, featuring thatched roofs on the end ranges and a grey slate roof on the single-storey connecting range. The cottages have left external painted brick chimneys on the end ranges and a similar chimney on the left range. The building is one storey with attics, and each end range has a single eyebrow dormer. There is a weatherboarded lean-to on the left side and a brick lower wall on the right return. The windows consist of a 3:1:1 arrangement of mainly small paned horizontal sliding sashes, along with a small paned shop window on the right range. The doors are vertically boarded, arranged in a 4:0:1 configuration. This group of cottages is notably attractive and situated in a prominent location.
