Description
Gothic Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage orné, now used as holiday flats. It was built in the early 19th century by John Warner, a bellfounder from Hoddesdon, for his mother as part of the Eastcliff Development he began in the 1830s. The cottage is constructed of stuccoed brick and features a grey slate roof with two gables on the east and west sides and a projecting gable on the south, all adorned with cut bargeboards and spiked finials. There is a chimney stack with two octagonal shafts located to the left of the east face. The building has two storeys, with the east face displaying a window in each gable and four windows on the ground floor, which are 19th-century two-light or cross transoms. There are two doorways, with the one on the left featuring French windows. Most windows and doorways have chamfered surrounds and labels above.
