Description
The Post Office and The Thorn Hotel, with a right return to The Green, is an 18th-century building originally constructed for Richard Rigby. It features a painted brick facade and a red plain tiled roof that is hipped to the right. The structure has an H plan and consists of two storeys, attics, and cellars. There are three flat-headed dormers and a parapet with a dentilled band underneath. The building has end pilasters and a central band. On the first floor, there are six vertically sliding sash windows, some of which have small panes. To the left of the chimney stack, there is a vertical panel. The ground floor includes a 20th-century shop window and door for the Post Office on the left, a central carriage entrance now fitted with 20th-century doors, and two fixed small paned windows to the right with a part glazed door between them.
