Description

This is an 18th-century house, now comprising shops to the left and right of a central restaurant. The building is located on the north side of St. John's Road in Great Clacton. It has a hipped roof covered in grey slate, with red brick chimney stacks. The facade is plastered brick. The house is three storeys high and originally had a five-window elevation on the upper floors, featuring small-paned vertically sliding sash windows. The ground floor now has a modern glazed shop front with a recessed door to the left, a central square porch with fluted columns and pilasters, metopes and triglyphs to the frieze, a dentilled cornice, and a modern glazed door. The right-hand shop front has a flat canopy, fluted columns, metopes and triglyphs to the frieze, and a shop bay with five segmental headed lights above a flat head.
