Description
The Plough is a public house located on North Road in Great Clacton. It dates from the 17th or 18th century, or possibly earlier, and has undergone later alterations and additions. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring batten decoration, and has a grey slate roof with two red brick chimney stacks. It stands two storeys high and has five small paned vertically sliding sash windows on the first floor, and three on the ground floor, with the leftmost window being tripartite. There are vertically boarded doors leading to the right carriageway, and a glass verandah covers a left-side four-panelled door and tripartite window. The building also has two central 20th-century porches, one with a gabled roof and the other hipped, both featuring panelled doors. Inside, chamfered bridging and ceiling joists are visible.
