Description

This milestone, located on the south verge approximately 100 metres east of the junction with Heath Road, dates from the 19th century. It has a square plan that tapers to a cut-off hipped top. The road-facing side is inscribed with "Parish of Alresford," while the left side indicates a distance of 6 miles to Colchester, and the right side shows 10 miles to Clacton on Sea. This milestone is part of a series in the area.
