Description

This is a milestone located on the east verge, approximately 240 metres south of Harts Lane. It dates from the 18th or 19th century and has a triangular plan, set diagonally to the road, with a raised head that is now partly buried. The left face of the milestone reads "Ardleigh," the right face reads "London," and there is an inscription for "Colchester" on the rear. This milestone is one of a series in the area.
