Description

Mistley House is a house dating from the 19th century. It is built of plastered brick and has a steeply pitched red tiled roof, hipped to the right and half-hipped to the left. The roof features two tall, elaborate red brick concertina shaft chimney stacks on the right side, and two taller, plain stacks on the left. The house is two storeys high with attics, and has three tall hipped dormers.

On the right-hand side is an angled oriel window with four lights, featuring a pointed roof, panels beneath the windows, a moulded soffit, and chamfered Gothic arches below. The plasterwork is noteworthy, including a moulded eaves cornice, elaborate rusticated quoins, and window surrounds. There are five first-floor and three ground-floor vertically sliding sash windows.

A gabled porch is located to the left of the oriel, with a chamfered Gothic arch, a moulded label, and lugs to the gable. It contains a two-panel double door and recessed footscrapers.

The rear return, facing Mistley Towers, has similar detailing and a four-window range. The ground-floor window on the left is an angled bay with pierced quatrefoils to the parapet.
