Description
This is an unusual outbuilding, possibly a former game larder or malthouse, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and has a square plan with two storeys. The hipped roof is now covered with corrugated iron and features a square louvre with a domed head, topped with a ball and pointed finial. On the south face, there is a simple doorway at ground level. The north face has vertical ventilator slits arranged in an uneven pattern on the first floor, while the west face includes a ground floor opening that may have accommodated a shaft or a pipe. Inside, there is no evidence that the building was ever used as a pigeon loft, despite its external appearance. The first floor has a ceiling covering half of the building, while the western half is open to the roof. The entrance is not wide enough for a carthouse, indicating that it could not have served as a stable.
