Description
The cannon, located adjacent to the northeast corner of No. 17 Rochford Post Office, is a Grade II listed structure. It dates from the 18th or 19th century and is made of cast iron. The cannon is set upright at the corner of the Post Office and is believed to be one of three cannons in Rochford that were present during the Napoleonic Wars. Its muzzle flares outward from a barrel ring, and the pivot arms are visible above ground. No. 17 is not included in this listing.
