Description
The Warren House is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It is timber framed and covered in parget plaster, topped with red plain tiled roofs. The building features a central red brick chimney on the gabled range, and a forward plastered chimney to the right of the gable. There is a 20th-century extension to the right and an 18th-century range at the rear left, which has one storey and attics, while the main range has two storeys and a cellar.
The left range includes a gabled dormer with shutters and a window arrangement of 20th-century lead casements, while the 20th-century range has a flat head dormer and a roof that extends to form a right return porch with a 20th-century door. Inside, the original range features a restored inglenook fireplace, stairs that wind around the chimney stack, chamfered bridging joists, and vertically boarded doors with original ironmongery. The cellar consists of three bays with a brick floor, and the top plate shows a halved and bladed scarf joint. The left wing has a side purlin roof. A marriage settlement from 1695 for William Fitch mentions "house newly built for my warrener."
