Description
Mansion House Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is timber framed and roughcast rendered, featuring a facade of gault brick laid in Flemish bond. The roof is covered with interlocking concrete tiles and handmade red clay tiles. The main range faces south and has a 18th-century internal stack at the right end. There is an early 16th-century rear wing at the right end, which has a 20th-century external stack to the right. To the left of the main range, there is an 18th-century extension with one internal stack, and a 20th-century two-storey lean-to extension in the front left angle, roofed with corrugated asbestos. The building has two storeys, with each floor featuring two late 19th-century tripartite sash windows with three lights each and two late 19th-century sash windows with two lights, all arranged symmetrically. The central entrance has a six-panel door set in a gabled porch supported by Tuscan columns. The house has a plain parapet and a hipped gablet roof. Inside, there are jowled posts, close studding, stop-chamfered beams with step stops, and both roofs feature cross-quadrate crownposts along with four-way and axial bracing.
