Description
Thorpe Park Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, which is partly plastered and partly covered with red brick laid in Flemish bond. The roof is made of handmade red clay tiles. The house has three bays facing southwest and features a central stack. To the right, there is an early 19th-century two-storey extension made of red brick with a low-pitched slate roof. At the rear, there are two early 19th-century single-storey lean-to extensions, also with slate roofs. The building has two storeys and a three-window range of 20th-century casements. The front door consists of six fielded panels and is set in an early 19th-century doorcase with reeded pilasters and panelled reveals and soffit. Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase with stick balusters and chamfered beams featuring lamb's tongue stops. The timber frame is mostly hidden by internal finishes.
