Description

Ivy Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick, with a slate roof and handmade red clay tiles. The main part of the house faces northeast, featuring an internal stack at the right end, and a service range to the rear of the left side. The house has two storeys. On the ground floor, there is an early 19th-century bow window with sash windows of 8, 16, and 8 lights. The first floor has one 20th-century replica of an early 19th-century sash window with 4 and 8 lights. A flush six-panel door is set within a reeded doorcase with a moulded flat canopy. The front roof is slated and has a shallow pitch, while the rear roof is tiled and steeper. The roof of the rear range is also tiled. An early 19th-century recessed cupboard is located on the ground floor, in front of the stack.
