Description

The Round House is a cottage dating from the 18th century to early 19th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. It is timber framed, covered in weatherboarding, and has a slate roof. The building is octagonal in shape with a central chimney shaft, facing west, and features a 20th-century external stack on the northeast side. There is a lean-to extension on the south side that connects the octagonal cottage to a 19th-century range that runs east-west, which includes a central stack, a short wing to the north at the east end, and an internal stack at the east end. The cottage is one storey high.

On the west elevation, there are three 20th-century casement windows and a 20th-century half-glazed door at the front of a gabled porch. The octagonal cottage has red clay ridge tiles at each angle. The central stack of the 19th-century extension features an octagonal shaft, and the north wing has a hipped roof. Inside the octagonal cottage, the original central stack and partition have been removed, leaving a false shaft visible from the outside. There is a 20th-century grate in the northeast stack.
