Description
This description covers a garden wall and railings that are located to the east of The Elms, dating from the 18th to 19th century. The garden wall is made of red brick and stands nearly 3 metres high on the northeast side, featuring a segmental pointed archway and supporting pilasters. On the southeast side, the wall is approximately 1 metre high and supports ornate cast iron railings. The entire structure is about 30 metres long and includes gateways, ending at a brick pillar topped with a ball finial. The railings are held up by cast iron moulded posts with S brackets, adorned with ornate arrowhead finials. The posts are fluted and have moulded capitals, bases, and central collars. The gate posts feature semi-circular heads and decorative cusped and quatrefoiled tracery. The gates resemble the railings but also include half-height rails with arrowheads.
