Description

Packards is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century, with later alterations and additions. The left-hand forward wing has a timber frame and a red brick facade, while the right-hand wing is plastered. Both wings are roofed with red plain tiles; the left wing has a half-hipped roof. A red brick chimney stack is attached to the left wing, and another is located to the left of the right range. The house is two storeys high with a single-storey lean-to extension to the right of the right range. The left-hand side has two window ranges, with two first-floor windows and three ground-floor windows. These are C19 casements with segmental heads over. The right-hand range has one window range featuring vertically sliding sashes with glazing bars, and moulded surrounds. There is a frieze and pentice board above the sashes. The right-hand side has a six-panelled door with a moulded frieze and a moulded canopy supported by brackets. Some exposed timber framing is visible, along with heavy chamfered bridging joists.
