Description
Shingleford is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with a later crosswing added on the left. It is constructed from timber framing and plaster, topped with red plain tiled roofs that are gambrelled on the right range. There is a red brick chimney stack that is off-centered to the left. The house has one storey and attics, and to the right, there is a single-storey red brick brewhouse from the 18th century, which has a hipped roof. The right range features three flat-headed dormers. The windows consist of a 1:3:1 arrangement of various casements and vertically sliding sashes, along with two vertically boarded doors on the right range and one door leading to the brewhouse. Inside, notable features include very large bridging and ceiling joists in the right range, a large blocked back-to-back fireplace, and a moulded beam above. The brewhouse has a pegged side purlin roof. The owner has deeds for the property dating back to 1595.
