Description
Truscott is a cottage dating from the late 17th century. It features a timber frame with a red brick facade and a weatherboard return. The building has a dentilled eaves cornice and a red plain tiled gambrel roof, which has a later outshot at the rear. A red brick chimney stack is present. The cottage is one storey with attics, and there is a 20th-century single storey rough rendered extension on the right side. It has two gabled dormers, each with two-light small paned casements. The front has a four-window range that includes various casements and vertically sliding sashes with glazing bars and segmental heads. There is a door located on the return side. The original frame of the cottage is intact, with some carpenters' marks visible on the walls. Inside, there is an original staircase located by the chimney stack, and a back-to-back fireplace features one brick fireplace with an exposed mantel beam above.
