Description
The village lock-up, dating from the 18th century, is located at the southeast corner of the churchyard of St. Thomas in Bradwell-on-Sea. It is constructed of red brick and features a pointed hipped roof covered with red tiles and red ridge tiles. The building has a dentilled eaves cornice. The heavy door is made of three boards and includes an iron louvre with twelve vertical slits. Attached to the left door jamb is a stocks and whipping post, which has four semi-circular wooden grooves and three matching iron grooves with a locking mechanism at the base. To the right of the door, there are five grooves without a locking device.
