Description
No. 50 Market Hill is an early 19th-century house located in Maldon. It is constructed of red Flemish-bond brick, with the southeast flank rendered, and features a plain tile gabled roof with end stacks. The building has two storeys and a two-window range, with a slate-roofed lean-to on the southwest side.
On the first floor, there are 12-pane sash windows. The ground floor features a central door with a segmental arch and four flush panels, flanked by two 16-paned sash windows under segmental heads. There is also an 8-pane sash window on the southeast flank. A rear extension includes a timber-framed wall from a former barn on the northwest flank. The southeast elevation has a 2-light small-paned horizontal-sliding window on the first floor, and there is a stone bollard against the northwest corner of the main block.
Inside, the house has a central hall with horizontal pine boarding on studwork, a tight winder staircase, and some original doors and architraves.
