Description

Greensted House is an 18th-century house with 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of brick with York stone rusticated quoins, and features a crosswing on the ground floor. The building has moulded bands at the centre and eaves cornice, supported by double lion mask brackets. The roof is hipped and covered in grey slate.

The front facade has two storeys and a three-window range of four-panel vertical sliding sashes. The first-floor windows have moulded surrounds, while the ground-floor windows have moulded surrounds and scroll brackets to the moulded flat canopies and cills, which are supported by cast iron posts and rails.

A central enclosed porch with double-glazed doors is accessed by steps with four urns. The porch features moulded pilasters, a dentilled frieze with paterae, and double scroll brackets to a dentilled and moulded cornice. Plastered chimney stacks are located to the left and right of the building.

A 19th-century range is situated at the rear, incorporating bay windows and a hipped grey slate roof. Inside, the house retains a fine internal staircase and decorative mouldings.
