Description
This is an early 17th-century aisled barn located approximately 25 metres southeast of Wheelers Farmhouse. The barn is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof covered in 19th-century red clay Roman tiles. It has five bays that are aligned roughly east to west, featuring a midstrey on the north side. One bay at the western end is partitioned from the rest of the barn, and there is a lean-to shed at the western end. The barn has half-hipped roofs at both ends, jowled posts, primary straight bracing with heavy studding, and cambered tiebeams with arched braces. The roof structure includes queen struts and clasped purlins. This barn is noted for being an unusually intact example of its type and period.
