Description
The Black Bull Public House is a public house dating from the early 15th century. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, with some weatherboarding at the rear, and has red plain tile hipped roofs. The building is two storeys high, with an additional storey in the attic, and is designed in an H-plan layout. The front has a three-window range of 19th-century vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars, and the ground floor windows include sidelights. There are two gabled dormers and a red brick dado. A 20th-century lean-to porch with a red plain tile roof has been added. The rear of the building includes extensions from the 17th, 18th, and 20th centuries, along with red brick chimney stacks. Inside, the heavy timber frame is of high quality, featuring exposed ceiling joists, centre tenons with soffit spurs to the floor joists, and the main frame is stop-chamfered.
