Description
Brickyards is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and an L-shaped plan, featuring a two-window range with vertical sliding sashes that include glazing bars. A central four-panelled door is complemented by a 20th-century gabled porch. The house has a moulded eaves cornice and an extensive oak frame with softwood joists, along with brick floors. There is a 20th-century, one-storey extension at the southwest. The end wall has red brick chimney stacks. It was probably originally built as a brickmaster's house.
