Description
Grey End is a house that dates from the 18th century or earlier, featuring later additions and alterations. It has a timber frame with a set-back brick extension on the left, a weatherboard-clad central block, and a brick-faced section with stucco on the right. The house is two stories high with an attic and has a grey slate gambrel roof.
The front has a window arrangement of 1:1:3, with three flat-headed dormers in the attic. The left side has small-paned casements, while the weatherboarded section features early 19th-century small-paned vertical sliding sashes. On the first floor to the right, there are three early 19th-century small-paned casements, above which are moulded stucco panels decorated with swags and patera, interspersed with ornate iron tie bosses. The moulded parapet is adorned with lion masks.
On the ground floor, there are two Gothic-paned French doors and a small-paned vertical sliding sash window to the right. This section has a full-width cast iron tent porch with a central round head, supported by ornate trellis supports with frieze and panelling. The left range has a matching porch but without the central head. There are two painted brick chimney stacks.
