Lippittshill Lodge

Lippittshill Lodge is a building dating from around 1824, constructed on the site of an earlier house. It is made of stucco and features a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building has three storeys and includes a plinth, quoins, and a modillion cornice. There are three sash windows with architrave surrounds, and the lower side windows are three-light. The first-floor windows have cornices on consoles that support pediments. The central door is topped with a cornice hood, which is supported by brackets and fluted half columns that do not have capitals. There is also a two-storey wing with two windows.

This building is listed partly for its historical significance as a former private asylum, where the poet John Clare lived from 1837 to 1840. At that time, it was known as Dr Allen's Lunatic Asylum, Leopard's Hill Lodge. Lippittshill Lodge and the Grotto are part of a group.
