Description
1 and 2 Parsonage Cottages are a pair of cottages dating from the early 17th century. They are timber framed and plastered, with a two-storey structure featuring a 19th-century red brick front. The cottages have an 'L' shaped plan and include an additional gabled 17th-century staircase tower at the rear. The roof is covered with clay peg tiles, gabled on the north and east sides, and hipped with a gablet at the corner. The front is constructed of Flemish bond red brickwork, accented by pilaster strips on each side. There are two pairs of double-hung sash windows with eight-over-eight small panes flanking a central door, with all openings topped by segmental brick arches. A large chimney stack is located in the center of the front range, while all rear range windows are 19th-century casements. The flank and rear walls feature old pargetting beneath a link to a 19th-century red brick outbuilding. Inside, the cottages have a partially exposed timber frame with moulded imposts and a contemporary staircase with fret balusters.
