GREAT AND LITTLE CHURCH LANE 1. 5214 WIGBOROUGH TL 91 NE 17/44 Moulsham's Farmhouse 23.6.52 II 2. C14 hall house, extended in early C16 and altered C20. Timber framed and plastered with red plain tile roof. Two storeys. Some exposed timber frame on west side. Modern lean-to extension at rear. 1:1:4 window range part modern casements, and part original early C16, with square bay moulded transom, mullions and side lights. C16 extension has long wall jetty on shaped brackets. C16 central red brick chimney. C20 gable with lean-to at north end. Internally much of the frame exposed. Remains of service wing include indications of 3 doors one with original ogee arch in site. Centre passage crosswing. Part of C14 screen, in post and plank remains. C16 work includes stop chamfered beams and jowled storey posts. Lower part of central chimney rebuilt at circa 1600. Some C16 doors and windows. Late C17 cupboard with semi-circular head, H hinges and raised and fielded panels. Early C18 fire surround with original low level side cupboards Some C16 paving remains. Early C18 staircase with turned balusters, fluted newels and moulded handrail. Mid C18 cupboard front. (RCHM 4).
