Description
Trumpingtons is a 15th-century house with later additions, situated on a moated site. The building has a T-shaped plan framed in timber, with rendered elevations and peg-tiled roofs. The crosswing is hipped to the southeast, while the hall range has a gabled roof and features three red brick chimney stacks that were added later. The hall range, dating from the 15th century, was originally open to the ridge and consisted of two bays. During the early years of Henry VIII, a first storey was added, and a first floor was inserted. The crosswing jetties to the northwest and has a side-purlin roof, along with an 18th-century one-bay extension of full height beyond the now internal jetty. A relatively recent building extends the hall range to the southwest. The elevations have been rendered and re-windowed in the late 19th and 20th centuries.
