Description

Virginia Cottage is a 17th-century T-plan house located on Lexden Road in West Bergholt. It is timber-framed and rendered, with a pegtiled roof to both the ridge and gable ends. A central chimney is built of red brick and has an L-shape. The wing facade features an 18th-century stucco doorcase on the left, paired casements to the right of it, and a set of three casements on the first floor. The main range has a pegtiled roof. It features a central porch with a round-headed doorway and two casements with two mullions and one transom on the ground floor, with two casements above on the first floor. Eaves and troughing are present. A single-story, pegtiled, ridged and gabled extension is attached to the right.
