Description

Half-a-Loaf Cottage is a small 16th-century house located on Rectory Road in Aldham. It is a timber-framed building of one storey with attics, measuring four bays in length. The frame is constructed of oak, with flat joists and studs. The roof is ridged and gabled, covered with machine-made tiles, and includes a single flat-topped dormer on the north slope. The windows are modern casements. Two 18th-century red brick chimney stacks are positioned along the ridge. The storey-posts feature jowls, and the floor joists have diminished haunches.
