Description

The White Horse Inn is a building located on Great Baddow High Street, originally constructed in the 17th century, possibly incorporating earlier elements. It has undergone significant alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries and was renovated in the 20th century. The front of the building is made of painted brick and it stands two storeys high with a range of four windows. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in plain reveals. On the ground floor, there are three-light windows and a splayed bay at the north end. The roof is tiled and features a 17th-century chimney stack with grouped diagonal shafts. Inside, the building retains exposed timber-framing. The White Horse Inn is part of a group that includes Nos 66 to 78 (even) and 57 to 61 (odd), along with Munnions, Banstreets, Bell Street, the Church of St Mary, and the Vicarage on Church Street.
