Description
Banstreets, also known as The Munnions, is a building located on Bell Street in Great Baddow. It dates from the 18th century or early 19th century and features a brick front that has been colourwashed, which covers an earlier timber-framed and plastered structure from the 17th century. The building is designed on an L-shaped plan and has two storeys with attics.
The west and south fronts each have a three-window range, with double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars and are set in flush cased frames. A raised brick band runs between the storeys on the west front. The doors, which are from the 20th century, are accessed by steps. The roof is hipped and tiled, featuring a moulded wood eaves cornice and three dormers with sloping roofs on the west front.
Banstreets with The Munnions, along with Nos 57 to 61 (odd) and 66 to 78 (even) on High Street, as well as the Church of St Mary and the Vicarage on Church Street, form a cohesive group of buildings.
