Description

This is a house of the 19th century fronting an earlier building, located at 55 to 57 New Street. The front facade is constructed of gault brick in a Flemish bond, and extends two storeys with attics. It has a five-window range, three dormers set into a mansard roof, a parapet with coping, and a string course that projects at eaves level. Two projecting bays have pedimented gables. A central stone Doric portico features two fluted square columns and two flanking pilasters. The windows are predominantly 3 and 6-paned sashes, with one pair of 8-paned sashes at the north end. There are two small street doors, each with a wooden case and flat hood, located at either end of the frontage.
