Description

Thatches is a cottage that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of timber framing and plaster, topped with a thatched roof that features a gabled dormer on the right side. There is an off-centre right red brick chimney stack that is plastered, as well as an external red brick chimney stack for a small lean-to on the left, which may have served as a bake oven. The cottage has one storey and attics, and displays a three-window range of diamond leaded casements. To the left, there is a gabled porch with one storey and attic, which has a vertically boarded door and side lights, along with batten decoration at the gable apex. Inside, notable features include an inglenook fireplace and stop-chamfered bridging joists.
