Description
Parsonage Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier. It is constructed with a timber frame and has a plastered exterior. The roof is covered with red plain tiles, hipped to the left, while a lower range extension from the 20th century is hipped to the right. The house features a central red brick chimney stack and an additional red brick stack on the left rear crosswing. It is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys with a window arrangement of three large and one smaller window, featuring 19th and 20th-century vari-light casements. A central gabled porch, also red tiled, leads to the main range and has a board door.
Inside, the farmhouse includes jowled storey posts and some exposed wall studding. The bridging joists are chamfered and were originally supported by heavy arched braces. The roof has heavy timbers for the side purlins, and the top plates show halved and bridled scarf joints. There are solid tread stairs leading to the attic in the crosswing. Shutter grooves and mullion slots are also visible. The property is situated within a homestead moat.
