Description
Boars Tye Farmhouse is a 17th century building located on Boars Tye Road in Silver End. It features a timber frame with plaster and stands two storeys high with attics, topped by a clay peg tiled gable roof. The front has a four-window range of modern casements with leaded lights positioned in their original locations. The main entrance is under a simple hood, located in the third position, while there is a rear door also under a simple hood supported by scroll brackets. The farmhouse has two large red brick chimney stacks. The frame includes moulded jowls on the main posts and stop-chamfered bridging joists. The roof is constructed with side purlins and collars, all from the same period. Inside, there is a significant number of original three-plank doors with their ironmongery still in place.
