Description

St Mary's Hall is a farmhouse dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure with peg tile roofs. The main block is two storeys high and has an 'H' plan form, with unjettied crosswings at each end. A 20th-century two-storey flat-roofed extension has been added to the rear, which is infilled between the crosswings. The front of the crosswings has gables, while the rear has half hips.

To the southeast of the main block is a two-storey structure that connects at the corner, also with a peg tile roof, gabled to the east and hipped to the west. The main front features bargeboards on the wings, 20th-century pargetting including gable top crests, and leaded light 19th-century casements. The off-centre door is framed by an early 19th-century pedimented doorcase with a lobed continuous architrave.

The southern crosswing has a 16th-century stack against its exposed flank, along with three original octagonal stacks, while the north wing has a later flank stack. The main block is primarily from the 16th century, showcasing typical corner chamfers on the north crosswing and bridging joists. The rear block is a two-storey structure with two bays and a simple but massive crown post roof. Inside, the north crosswing contains a good early 19th-century corner cupboard set into the flank wall. The site is moated.
