Description

Lyons Hall is a timber-framed and plastered house built around 1600, with later expansions in the 18th century. It has undergone extensive renovation and restoration in the 20th century and is now finished with pebble-dash. The building has two storeys, attics, and cellars. The windows are modern metal casements with leaded lights.

On the south front, two small wings project forward, featuring gables supported by carved bressumers and braces, with carved and moulded pendants. At the north end, there is a third gable topped by a small open belfry. The north front includes two projecting gables, one of which has a carved bressumer on carved brackets. The south front features one projecting gable with carved bressumer pendants and a carved spandrel beneath the bressumer. All gables, except for the one on the north front, display exposed timber framing.

The southwest corner has been modified to create a covered loggia. The roof is tiled and features two impressive brick chimney stacks; one has three circular shafts on a rectangular base with carved spiral ornamentation and moulded brick caps, while the rebuilt stack has four circular shafts on a square base, adorned with chevron and ribbed ornamentation and moulded brick octagonal caps. The north front also includes a central gabled dormer.

Inside, there are several original features, including 17th-century panelling, doors, ceiling beams, and a square carved newel post that supports the ceiling.
